Out of School Care (OSC)
School-Day Schedule:

7:15 – 8:35 am: breakfast (provided by MCCS) + activities

11:45 am – 12:30 pm: lunch (provided by family) + activities

3:05 – 5:00 pm: snack (provided by MCCS) + activities


Experiences are available to all children, such as arts, crafts, science, math and baking, as well as free play and a variety of centres such as dramatic play, blocks and small manipulatives. Children also have the opportunity to read, play games and do puzzles. Older children are encouraged to develop their leadership skills through helping with program planning, mentoring younger children and assisting with age-appropriate tasks in the centre.

Children play outside (sports/cooperative games/free play) for a minimum of 30 minutes daily, except when the outdoor temperature falls below -20 C. In colder weather, children have access to gross motor activities in the school gym/other appropriate spaces.

Non-School-Day Schedule:

7:15 am – 5:30 pm

Activities also include field trips and at least one hour of gross motor activities (outdoor/indoor).


7:15 – 11:00 am: Activities

8:00 – 9:15 am: Morning snack (provided by MCCS)

11:00 – 11:30 am: Group time (stories, rhymes, songs, discussion)

11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Morning kindergarten children arrive; lunch (provided by family) + activities

12:30 pm: Afternoon kindergarten children leave

12:30 – 1:00 pm: Quiet time

1:00 – 5:00 pm: Activities

3:05 pm: Afternoon kindergarten children arrive

3:00 – 4:30 pm: Afternoon snack (provided by MCCS)

5:00 – 5:15 pm: Tidy and cleaning of Kindergarten room

5:15 – 5:30 pm: Program ends. Children are getting ready to leave the program.


Interest-related learning activities are provided including centre free play, puppets, sensory experiences (water, sand, snow, mud, ice) and science experiments. Children take part in outside play (gross motor, sensory, creative, dramatic play) for a minimum of one hour in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon unless the temperature is below -20 degrees. Other activities include gym, music and movement, gross motor and cooperative games. Field trips are scheduled throughout the year.
